Ca-clipper 5.3 For Windows [2021]

-- Francis Paquin Programmer-Analyst University of Ottawa computer_2(); Sat, 21 Feb 1998 03:00:00 GMT vic#3 / 9 Windows 95/Clipper 5.3 I am running the release of Win95 and it DOES have some incompatability problems when using the LLIBG library in graphics mode, I have been playing with the MSDOS memory and display settings, but If I run a program that requires graphics mode, the program dies with a GPF and then Win95 either freezes or locks up tight! We can not use 5.3 yet because the LLIBG library is NOT compatible with CTUS.OBJ, CTUSP.OBJ (clipper tools) and CA told me there will be a fix in a month or so. I have not used it enough to say that there might be a possible problem other than DOS settings. I can't speak about 5.3, but I use 5.2 consistently without any problems. I also use Flipper, Blinker and Artful Libraries. That includes graphic modes with Flipper. I've experienced no problems with Win95 in this or any other regard, with the exception of some anoying problems with Wincom Pro on a laptop, when the battery is getting low. Good luck. -- Thu, 26 Feb 1998 03:00:00 GMT J du Preez Vent#5 / 9 Windows 95/Clipper 5.3 Quote: >Subject: Re: Windows 95/Clipper 5.3 >Date: Sun, 10 Sep 1995 12:16:29 GMT >> Does anyone know if Clipper 5.3 is really incompatible with Windows 95. >> The Microsoft compatibility list doesn't mention Clipper. Will it compile OK in a DOS window or if the computer boots up (dual boot option) in DOS without Win95? I just received my 5.3 and I haven't upgraded to Win95 yet. I haven't heard anything out of Computer Associates about Win 95. Its just perfect from both the Dos Shell, as well as when I boot from normal DOS (patched WIN'95, which lets me load Win'95 from DOS_Command_Prompt and with Shut Down gives back the Dos_Command_Prompt). --- t QMPro 1.53 t Tagline *filter*s - tomorrow on Oprah. It works fine using full screen but not as a window (Modify its properties to always use Full screen). Another prog using text mode only works well as a full screen or windowed. I must say that after the initial hair-pulling/screaming tantrum familiarisation period, both Win95 and Clipper 5.3 seem very good. (Both work ok on my Pentium 90 and 386DX40 (8Megs in both). For some reason there seems to be less steam coming from the Pentium ! :-) -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- \ 73s from Mal (Emdec) GW0SWJ - Ex GW8ECY \____________________________________________________________________/ Mon, 02 Mar 1998 03:00:00 GMT Page 1 of 1 [ 9 post ] Relevant Pages 1. I can not fully explain the reason. But Clipper was not designed to be run in a multitasking environment and windows goes through great trouble to emulate a DOS-environment. So now as soon as your old program runs, even the fastest core duo system slows down to a creep. If you run it on a laptop, your batteries are empty quicker than you can say uncle.

I have source code for a DOS Clipper 87 program using Flipper graphics. I need it upgraded to Windows 10. I think C# in Microsoft Visual Studio would be best, but open to other platforms. I will want the new windows code so that I can compile it locally. No external libraries please. 350c69d7ab
